Tenerife Breakfast & brunch

Breakfast on the island has two speeds. The local one is quick and taken standing: a bocadillo, a tostada with tomato and oil, or a pastry, with a cafe con leche or a barraquito, in a plain bar that has been open since six. It costs very little and it is what most people actually eat.

The other version belongs to the resorts and to the newer places in Santa Cruz and Puerto de la Cruz: eggs, avocado, pancakes and filter coffee, served until the middle of the afternoon and busiest at weekends. Hotels do buffets, but the counters are more interesting and considerably cheaper.
