Tenerife Accommodation
Where to Stay in Tenerife
Resort hotels and apartments along the sunlit southern coast, and quieter, cheaper, greener bases up in the north.
Where you stay on Tenerife decides what kind of holiday you have, more than on most islands, because the two halves have different weather.
The south is the reliable one. Costa Adeje, Playa de las Americas and Los Cristianos hold the great majority of the bed stock, the beaches and the sunshine, and they sit twenty to thirty minutes from the southern airport. The north around Puerto de la Cruz and La Orotava is cooler, greener and cloudier, considerably cheaper, and closer to the volcano, the laurel forest and the wine country. El Medano suits windsurfers, Los Gigantes suits walkers and boats, and Santa Cruz suits anyone who would rather be in a working Spanish city than a resort.
