Spanish pharmacies do more than dispense prescriptions, and on a holiday island that matters. The pharmacist is the first stop for sunburn, insect bites, stomach upsets, seasickness before a boat trip and anything else that would mean a doctor at home, and a good deal is available over the counter here that is not elsewhere.
Look for the green cross. Every town has at least one, the resorts have several, and each municipality runs a duty rota so that one is open through the night and on holidays. The rota is posted in every pharmacy window. English is widely spoken in the southern resorts and commonly enough in the north.
