Tenerife Parking
Parking in Tenerife
Parking on the island follows the standard Spanish colour system and it is worth learning in the first five minutes. Blue lines mean a metered bay with a time limit, paid at a machine and displayed on the dashboard. Unmarked white bays are free. Yellow lines mean no parking at all, and they are enforced.
The resort towns and the old towns in the north both run short of space in season, and the underground car parks are usually the answer: they are cheap by northern European standards and they are signposted. Beach car parks fill by mid-morning at weekends. Never leave anything visible in the car, which is the one piece of advice every local gives.
