Taxis on the island are white, metered and regulated by each municipality, which is the thing to understand about them: fares are set locally, so a cross-island run crosses several tariff areas and is expensive by comparison with a pre-booked transfer.

Within a resort or a town they are cheap and plentiful, with ranks at the beaches, the bus stations and the larger hotels. The airports post fixed fares to the main destinations at the rank. There is a supplement at night and at weekends, luggage is usually included, and most drivers take cards, though it is worth asking before you set off rather than at the end.
