Tenerife Ferries

Tenerife is the hub of the western Canaries and the ferries make the neighbouring islands a realistic day out rather than a separate holiday. Los Cristianos in the south is the port for La Gomera, which is under an hour away on the fast boat and is the trip most people take, along with slower sailings to La Palma and El Hierro.

Santa Cruz in the north is the port for Gran Canaria and for the eastern islands. Two main operators run the routes, both take cars, and booking ahead matters in the summer and at weekends. Check what your rental agreement says before you take a hire car onto a boat.
