Tenerife Buses

The island's bus company runs a network that genuinely covers Tenerife, including both airports, the crater road and villages a rental car would struggle to park in. Buses are green, the stations in Santa Cruz, La Laguna, Los Cristianos and Puerto de la Cruz are the hubs, and the express routes down the motorway are quick.

The thing that changes the economics is the rechargeable travel card, which cuts fares by around half and can be shared between several people on the same journey. Buy one at a station or a kiosk and top it up as you go. The catch is frequency: the main corridors are fine, the mountain and northern routes may be a few a day.
