Tenerife Beach bars

The chiringuito is a beach bar in the loosest sense: sometimes a shack, sometimes a full restaurant, always on or beside the sand. The southern coast has the most of them and the best position, because the whole strip faces west and the sunset happens over the water in front of you.

They open late in the morning, serve through the afternoon and turn into a drinking place around sunset, with music but rarely a proper club night. The northern versions are fewer, plainer and better for eating: fried fish, papas and a beer at a plastic table, twenty metres from a black sand beach.
