The island runs a network of official information offices, and they are more useful here than in most places for two specific reasons. The first is the bus network, which reaches almost everywhere but is not obvious from outside, and where the offices hand out the current printed timetables and explain the travel card.

The second is Teide. Walking the last stretch to the summit needs a free permit booked in advance, and the offices and the park visitor centres are where people go when they discover that on the day. Offices sit in the main resort towns, in Santa Cruz and La Laguna, and in both airport arrival halls.
