Tenerife Viewpoints

The island is built to be looked at from above, and the road network obliges: almost every mountain road on Tenerife has laybys cut into it with a name and a view. The Anaga ridge road in the northeast is the best single run of them, dropping either side into forested valleys with the sea at both ends.

The crater rim above Teide gives you the lava fields and, on a clear day, three of the other islands. The west coast miradors look down on the Masca gorge and along the cliffs at Los Gigantes, which fall six hundred metres straight into the water. Go early: cloud fills the northern valleys by the middle of the day.
