Tenerife Paragliding

The island's shape makes it one of Europe's more dependable flying sites. The land rises steeply behind the southern coast, the trade winds arrive across open ocean without obstruction, and the launch sites above Adeje sit a long way above the landing beaches, so flights are long rather than a quick descent.

Tandem flights with an instructor need no experience and are the usual way in, launching from between 800 and 2,200 metres depending on the site and the day, and landing on the sand at Playa de las Americas. The high launches give some of the biggest tandem descents available anywhere in Europe. Schools also run courses for people who want to fly themselves.
